Let's make something like Tribes, only focusing more on realism and the strategy element of it (as in collecting resources etc.)

well space combat should remain on a 2D level. It would be just too complex to control ship in 3D to have any fun (though rendered in openGL with 3D models).

so option 2.5 is a multiplayer port of Mazer's Evasive Manuver (can't spell) into 3D Laughing

Actually I remember talking to Darkness about such kind of project before and we although thought it might be nice to add some strategy so...

option 2.7.5 is a multiplayer port of Mazer's game with strategic elements such as resource gathering and owning bases.

i agree with the space shooter game... the physics are easy the graphics are also easy... it can be first person and third person shooter... right now i've made a really simple one and it's working perfectly...

all we need:
3d models and textures for objects...(some1 submit something)
nice skyboxes...(can do)
vectors for lasers and missiles...(can do)
OGL programing(can do)
some basic rules for the game...
and multiplayer mod...(can do)
and a hell lotta time which we will have since summer's almost starting...
And we can call it the compsci game or something...

now who's gonna be workin with us?
me catalyst tony darkness and who else?

or we could just have a key to change the view...(i know how the camera thing works) and have some 2d masking for the inside of ship views...
