yea cervants would loook kinda messed...
see picture i did in word.. (5 sec)
i think other one with just the C might work... or amybe put the S on the globe or on the side.......meh i dont know... i not a graphic designer
take a peak at crapy pics tho... ideas..
since this is comp sci CANADA.... maybe put only canada on the globe picture... i dont know here i got this off google...

Green and blue Binary... on the Globe of te Earth..

What is the current logo spawned from.????
i cant realy read it... and are those waves or blue????

Im still learning 3DSMAX, it's not like maya.. hmm maya had already ready stuff you can auto use.
Except, when you render in maya, it lags your computer

Maya is made by Alias Wavefront if I remember correctly. They're supposed to have a Maya learning edition for free that you can order on CD, but I'm not sure if it's available to download yet.
3DS Max is made by Discreet. I seriously doubt there's a demo for that but I could be wrong.
And Blender is made by NaN (Not a Number)... you can probably find a demo of it somewhere on the net, but it would be a stupid idea to look for it because it's already free!

you can dl the learning edition for maya (but you will not be able to render your images well because they hadd a huge text MAYA LEARNING EDITION and bla bla bla)...
You can also DL the demo for 3DSMAX...(google)
