www.realmofthemadgod.com for those of you who don't know.

The game seems like (other than their online aspect) it could be coded by somebody without a lot of experience. I don't mean anything bad about the game, because the game is great. Rather, would anybody like to give me some insight on how hard you think it would be to program this game? (Again minus the servers and multiplayer aspects)

It seems all there is is
- Terrain Objects (can't move past them)
- Monsters (simple AI, move & attack, drops)
- Spells (show animation, do damage in x radius, or in a line infront)
- Items (id, stats)
- Inventory (items)
- Stats (character values)

That's it. Maybe something specifically to pick items off the ground. But, other than that it seems very basic.

Opinions?

You know, this game wouldnt be too hard to make. It'd be pretty fun, actually.

I think the only issue would be the 45 degree map Razz

Really would be quite an easy game to make, that's kinda the point. The online play gets even better since it's a 2d world and all that you need to send is where the player is basically lol.

Indeed, I think its really cool. I think the only hard thing would be the map. For me anyways - I've never really had a screen bigger than the window size. When that happens, don't you have an X and a Y for the map, and an X and a Y for the screen so that you know where you are in relation to both?

Depends on how you do it, I think, but yeah.
