From the problem statement, I don't think it's clear whether or not one has a "choice", when entering a square containing an entry node for a teleporter, whether or not to teleport to the exit node.

The solution assumes that one has that choice, but reading over the question again, I can see that one can't definitively conclude the same. Ambiguity noted.

Exactly -- the first solution I submitted, assuming that one does not have the choice, only got 2/5. So yes, it does matter.
