How do I change my OS?

My older computer has Windows NT and I would like to know how to change the operating system to Windows 98 (don't want to put XP because it only has 128 ram).  Currently, I have a 98 CD and a boot disk.  Could someone give me step by step instructions on how to do this.  Thanks in advance.

There's several different HOWTOs listed there, depending on what you want to do.

Also, if your up for something new, I'd recommend [url=www.ubuntulinux.org]Ubuntu. XFCE flies on 128 MB.

(Actually, 128 MB probably isn't too much for Windows XP on classic theme either.)

Stick the boot disk in.
Restart.  (You should boot into DOS)
Type "format c:"
Accept.  (Begin formatting)
Stick Win98 CD into drive and remove boot disk.
Restart.  (Should boot from CD.  If it doesn't, make sure the CD is higher than the HD in the boot settings of your BIOS)
Follow the setup instructions.

I never knew windows 98 was bootable.  :? 
Anyways, I used to just type in "setup" in DOS after formating and that will take you to windows 98 setup.

When I put in the boot disk, it says that the C drive does not appear to have a valid FAT or FAT32 partition.  Should I just ignore this message, and format?

If you can format it to FAT32, do so.  It's currently NTFS.
