Obtaining update for Turing

-----------------------------------

is there no way i can get an update for TUring? i hav 4.0.4 c and the site (www.holtsoft.com) shows a link to an update but the page doesnt work (page cannot be displayed) I'm out of school too so i cant get a new version from the school either.

Right now i cant use the GUI.Alert[Full] commands or the GUI.Save command and a lot of the others i dont kno about yet.

GUI.Alert, GUI.Save, and 'a lot of the others' are not implemented yet. In other words, the commands are there, but they don't do anything. Sort of like the Sprite. module.
As for updates, I'm not sure if we can give you any links...and if you take that to mean that links to exist, well, that's up to you. I'm not positive as to the differences between 4.0.4c and 4.0.5, they could be big they could be small.
If I remember correctly, Dan posted a list of changes a while back. Ah, [url=http://www.compsci.ca/v2/viewtopic.php?t=2996]here it is.

More likely they don't care anymore. You should see the licensing fees for Turing...through the roof! Don't expect them to come out, ever. If you're serious about programming though, move onto something more worth your while.
If you just need something to make handy apps with, try make things yourself. I personally stay away from GUI as much as possible, instead making custom-GUI. It's often the better way to go since it directly serves your purpose.

Also, look around for S-engine, it might have what you're looking for in it (it's a custom GUI library made). Methinks you can even find it on sourceforge.

Yep, it's pretty bad that they created this learning language, put it all across ontario (or even canada?) and now they don't want to contine working on it... They don't even supply the update anymore, so personally, I think they should just allow anyone to 'supply' it.

I always wondered who made the S-Engine (I think that's the one), the Turing GUI on SourceForge, it's pretty good. Was it anyone from here, because there aren't really any other large Turing sites out there..?

Bah Turing. If you want a good starting language, try Ruby!:)
wtd will be extatic if he gets a few more padawans under his belt.

Well wen i install it says put it in Program Files, that didnt work, so then i put it in the same place the other GUI (one supplied with Turing) is in, even that didnt work...
