For the same reason that IE's bad implimentation of the standards makes for a lot of poorly written websites, having browsers that handle broken CSS in the same way would inevitably lead to there being more broken CSS. Browsers which handle bad CSS => more bad CSS as people don't have to get it right. I don't know how big a deal it'll be though, at least not right away; as the only browsers that actually support the standards in their entirety make up a very small portion of the actual browsers in use. ----------------------------------- rizzix Fri Jun 03, 2005 12:28 pm ----------------------------------- what is the acid2 test? isin't it to test and see if the browser follows the "standards".. and if its is so: if the browser passes the acid2 test its is standards compliant. if more browsers are standards compliant then this forces the better development of standards compliant websites. hence its is better if more browsers pass the so called acid test. I think that this is a good thing, Standards are good. Well coded websites should all render the same way in any browser. Brokenly coded websites, on the other hand, shouldn't (although the standards say that they should). If all browsers passed the Acid2 test, it would mean that all browsers rendered broken CSS in the same way. (an extenstion of the W3C standard)
