When a new program is installed, it is checked onto that list by default (I think) :? About the internet, could you connect right away before you disabled all these things? Anyhow, I had contacted sympatico also thinking it was because of them my internet was getting disconnected- but it wasn't its this damm comp! Ah.. Stopping it will stop your computer from running. if you want to see which services are running use the services control panel (it can be found in administrative tools), only disable a service if you know what it does, and you are sure that you don't need it. Disabling some services will prevent windows from booting again. P.S. i only disabled the startup things in msconfig but not the services and i got about 25 services starting up does that matter or can that slow down my computer.
