Alright, but you're not him. If you were him, you'd need to think about a couple of things:
1. Having no more control in the company which is his life's work, which he created.
2. Having to care about his kids, who have the right to live a normal life
3. What image would selling his stocks give to the traders.

I realize that he is a billionare, I do give him credit for being a good businessman and managing to make all that money, although, I think that when they have that many people using his software, they have an obliagation to the people that made them rich to try and turn out higher quality software.

I actaully have respect for bill gates and what he has managed to do, what I don't have respect for is the sheer crappiness that is sometimes evident in their software.

Dont know if that makes sense to you , but it makes perfect sense to me...

Yeah. They say that Bill Gates is rich enough, that if he saw $1000 on the ground, he wouldn't have to pick it up, but he's smart enough that he would.

Isn't that how he became a billionaire? By buying out smaller companies so they have less competition?

partially, they also buy smaller companies to add their featured software into windows, such as their recent aquisition of a New York Anti Virus firm, they are going to try and develop their own AV software so they want a point to start from, and they want people with knowledge.

Re: Gates makes a fool of himself

After watching documentaries and reading stuff about the history of the PC, you realise just how lucky Microsoft was... Here's a brief outline:
When the IBM PC was being launched in 1981, they needed an operating system to ship with it. The most popular operating system at the time was CP/M, created by Gary Kildall. IBM turned to Microsoft because they thought they had the rights to licence CP/M to them, but in fact they did not.

So some IBM executives took a visit to see Gary Kildall... but Gary and his wife decided they wouldn't even sign IBM's non-disclosure agreement before negotiations could be made. Apparently they kept them waiting for hours, so they just left and went back to Microsoft for an OS.

Microsoft bought QDOS (which was basically just a CP/M clone) from Tim Paterson for a mere $50,000. They turned around and licensed it to IBM, and later to a whole wave of IBM clones. Gates hit the jackpot with that deal. I really wonder what Kildall and Paterson thought after this...

I also have a story sort of like that, I bought the game for Xbox called Air Force Delta Storm, that was pretty much the only flight sim for the xbox, I did not like it tonnes so I returned it. It then becam very hrd to find thae game for a while, then all of a sudden it am out again.

apparentluy the original version had the Twin Towers in it and they had to remove them after 9/11 so it was taken off shelves. Some told me that the version I had with them in it might be worht quite a bit.
