Transposing Music

Uh... I have a source for sheet music, but I have to transpose it. I know how to do it by hand, but not very well. Damn me for not paying attention to the theory stuff. Anyway, does anyone know a good program to transpose sheetmusic from Piano to Alto sax?

Do you just have to bring it up an octave? I think the only way to do that is by hand but I've never really searched for anything to do it...

the amount you have to shift each note is different for each instrument and also, I think you may need to change the key if the instrument is like a b flat trumpet or whatever... I got lucky and our teacher gave us a sheet showing what changes for each instrument

I played trombone and I just put the the notes under the other ones in the book. I had to blame it on someone else though.
