Wireless Networking Errors

-----------------------------------

I have a wireless network adn it had la8tly been giving me some p[roblems. My PC uses a D-Link Wirelless Card to connect to a D-link router. Recently when I open up my internet explorer I have been getting a message in the bottom left hand corner of the screen (where it normally says "waiting for website to respond" or things like that) it says "detecting proxy settings".

It sometimes stays like this for a few minutes before it actaulyl shows thje webpage.

Can somneone tell me what this means, and if there is anyway to improve the network so that doesn't happen?

i had that problem once...usually it happens only on the first time i open ie after my computer boots up, n if this happens i just close that ie n open a new one again n it'll load up very fast

btw, is it possible for a linksys pci wireless adapter to connect to a dlink router?? or do they hav to be the same brand in order to connect?

for me it used to be jsut when it boot up (actully it often didn't work at all even though I was getting a signal) and now I moved my PC to a new location and IE usually ends up always working (don't get the "this page can't be displayed" messages n e more). But it does this proxy thing often. Even fater I have just been usign IE the next time I open it (like 2 seconds l8ter) I get the proxy message even if I vae other working IE windows open.
