I've been getting into MC lately, and everyone knows games are better multiplayer! ;) Only thing is I can't host a server, I don't own any servers or VPS's. These are the people that will still be on the forums this summer, along with maybe one or 2 new posters. Everybody else will be gone in a month or 2, so I don't know how useful a minecraft server will be. And I go through phases too raknarg, although my phases are rarely vanilla. I enjoy a nice custom map now and then or a game of UHC (No auto-regen multiplayer game mode), but I just kinda overplayed vanilla and it's no longer a challenge. I mean, even diamond collection got way too easy, I had a method to obtain > 72 diamonds per hour. I just dont have 20$ to spend. Part of the problem was that it was a public server and we had to constantly deal with greefers.
