No need to say this is a major event in the computer science industry. I'm not an apple fanboy by any means (though I'll defend my macbook to death) but Steve was the closest thing I ever had to a hero. I don't think you realy want an open discussion about him on the day of his death as that would lead to many valid negtive criticisms. As such I will just ignore the topic intill it can be discussed with out the emotion of his recent death. He was the reason for Apple's success, and without him the company is going to be pretty lost. I'm not saying they won't recover, I'm just saying they lost a huge part of the company. While I didn't agree with many of Steve's Jobs decisions later on his life, he was a great entrepreneur, and he advanced the computer industry amazingly with his ideas. Truly fascinating how one person can achieve orders of magnitude more than most. He must have been an outlier of both talent and circumstances. I'll always remember exactly where I was when I heard of Jobs' death: sitting at my desk, on my computer. Steve Jobs was amazing to be sure, but I still have to say, I love what Bill Gates ended up doing a lot more. His charity has given away money equal to 10% of apple's net worth (which should just show you that's a LOT).
