What is engineering

Does anyone on this forum know what is engineering and how can I apply it to things in the real world, for example, applications we see everyday outside in electrical engineering (i.e. toaster, oven, power lines, microwaves, etc.)

Everything. Pick up a random object near you, and an Engineer has been involved in its creation (in some capacity).
