Is this valid and should everyone try to get the errors out and get your page to show no errors when submitting it to the validation at W3C? :?: ----------------------------------- Brightguy Fri Aug 13, 2010 7:27 pm Re: W3C Validator ----------------------------------- Yes, everyone should compose error-free documents, but empirically this is asking too much. Most of the XHTML documents on the web aren't even valid XML, let alone XHTML. This boggles my mind considering the ENTIRE PURPOSE of XHTML is that it's XML. There is no reason to use it otherwise. ----------------------------------- DtY Fri Aug 13, 2010 9:49 pm RE:W3C Validator ----------------------------------- Yes, it's important. That's why there's a standard. ----------------------------------- yoursecretninja Fri Aug 13, 2010 9:55 pm RE:W3C Validator ----------------------------------- Validation is more important for you than your 'product'. Web browsers are pretty forgiving, and will often render fine if you say, forget to close out an image tag properly. However, validation will help you debug those times when the browser is unforgiving. Forgetting to close out a div tag could cause all sorts of formatting problems and be hard to spot. The validator will catch that though. Aside from helping you debug, it helps you get into good coding habits. And you can feel good that you are writing good quality code. There's a lot more reasons to do it, but I think those reasons are pretty convincing to write valid HTML or XHTML. ----------------------------------- rdrake Sat Aug 14, 2010 8:59 pm Re: RE:W3C Validator ----------------------------------- Yes, it's important.
