Port problems

Alright, I have been having some trouble signing onto steam and MSN, SO i rand a diagnostic....Which revealed that I have closed ports. The ports are open on my router, and I can sign in from another computer on the same network. 
SO, my question is, are there "internal ports" and can they be opened?

Maybe you have some kind of firewall on your computer which is blocking certain ports?

I looked in my firewall settings and it claims that the programs are using any ip/port adresses available..... so is there a way I can list the traffic on my computer? and then find which one is the problem one?
