I don't see whats so socking, the swastika was a common symbol and pattern before it was used by the Nazi party.

With that side, Doom is not meant for kids by any means and swastikas would not be that unfiting of the plot (hell on mars). Also as USEC_OFFICER mentioned, it could also be a homage to Wolfenstein 3D or just a random pattern to make things look more "bad ass".


P.S. If you find that offensive i don't recommend you play any of the Wolfenstein games, robot hitler and all....

If you look closely, you'll notice that the layout is also the flip of the swastika used by the Nazi party - the same orientation as the original Hindu symbol (follow Dan's link).

Also if you look closely, you'll notice that Doom is a pretty old game and if you stumble across something in it, chances are it has been seen and talked about a bunch of times before and is no longer relevant at all.
