----------------------------------- Aziz Thu Feb 11, 2010 2:42 pm University of Windsor Winter 2010 Computer Science Society LAN Party ----------------------------------- I've been lurking this board for a while, and now I'm back with a shameless plug! I want to invite people in the area to our LAN party next weekend. We're especially trying to get University of Windsor CS students to come and get to know some of the Computer Science Society guys, but anyone is welcome. (University life is so much better when you're involved with people of similar interests, so I urge all UWindsor students to register) Winter 2010 LAN Party When: Starts at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20. Will continue through the night, officially ends at 10:00 a.m. Feb 21 Where: Ambassador Auditorium, on the 2nd floor of CAW Student Centre of the University of Windsor (Windsor, ON). We'll have signs upstairs pointing to the entrance door Price: We haven't finalized the price, but it will be between $5-$10. Pre-registration may have a discounted rate, and it helps us plan a lot better, so please register as soon as you can (registration is down right now, but we will have the link up ASAP - maybe I'll work on a stand-in one today). What: This is really the important part. We're going to have "official" game times, where we'll have a CSS-run game server for about 2 hours where the concentration will be. Then after that, we'll have a tournament. We haven't decided the exact games yet, but you can expect things like TF2, Quake III or UT2004, Starcraft, L4D2, etc. Of course, you can play whatever games you want! We'll also have some consoles there, so we'll likely host one or more tournaments for the following games: Super Smash Bros, Street Fighter IV, Rock Band, etc. For refreshments, we're allowed to supply cold drinks. We can't bring in outside food unless we get a permit (which we're looking into), and I don't think catering service's pizza is all that good. But there's plenty of places for people to grab there own food. (Harveys, pizza joint, etc). Either way, food is an extra opt-in, so bring money. Sponsors (so far): : You know these guys, theyre right behind Devonshire mall. They're coming to play with us and they're going to supply us with some equipment so we can actually transfer files and play LAN games on a 100Mbps network. They're also trying to get us some prizes from suppliers. : Supplying us with a apparel from their online store. : We're getting a free magazine for every attendee, plus a 1-year subscription coupon to give as a prize : Meatcards.com is going to give us a free set of custom, laser etched beef jerky business cards to give away as a prize to one randomly drawn person for the pre-register list. : Supplying us with a promotional materials, and $50 rebate coupons. : Supplying us with some energy drinks =).
