I've been running Win7 for over a month now, and I haven't run into a single problem yet. Shocking, I know - considering how much I abuse my system.

I was running the RC up untill yesterday and had no problems. This is really starting to piss me off...because, IE works fine....and firefox doesn't.

Try installing portable firefox to your desktop or something and see if that works.

Nope.....
 Recently I got this message

Could not initialize the application's security component. The most likely cause is problems with files in your application's profile directory. Please check that this directory has no read/write restrictions and your hard disk is not full or close to full. It is recommended that you exit the application and fix the problem. If you continue to use this session, you might see incorrect application behaviour when accessing security features.

how do i fix this? I only have 10GB used / 200GB so its not full...

I would assume that he's the admin because he said he installed it himself.

allright. I REFORMATTED my laptop HDD and then SPENT 1.5 HOURS OF MY LIFE talking to a IDIOT in India who didn't understand what I meant by a BSOD and reformatting. After getting redirected twice. I had my key changed into a full version not upgrade (apparently you can not do a clean install w/o a hour and a half of of BS) and now everything works flawlessly.

I didn't bother for upgrade, just copied my HDD right away on an external and went for the clean install (it was an upgrade disc, so it was cheaper. All I had to do was reinstall XP first, then Win7 on top of that).

As soon as I got my laptop with Vista on it, I downgraded to Xp right away. And dual booted with linux. Damn Vista crashed on me 3 times the first day - with just Firefox running.

Never use vista. It is a  :!:

Btw, my parents' laptop had an upgrade from Vista to 7 and everything worked. But we use Internet Explorer, not firefox on it.

For shame. Chrome's a good browser too if you haven't used it. It may not have the customability of Firefox, but it has raw speed.

That's how I got my dad to switch to Firefox - he ended up liking it better.
In the end you never really need to choose one, I use both Firefox and Chrome.

I would install both, but he doesn't like a lot of programs installed on his computer. I've almost convinced him to switch though.

On school computers, I would like to use both as well...
But mostly Firefox w/ its customizing ability and virus detector (?)
Chrome is much more appealing and is simple and unnoticeable.

Same here, I personally find Firefox way much better than IE. Not only is it less attacked by various, I find firefox more user-friendly too. I love working with tabs rather than working with multiple windows like IE does. :) But still, nothing beats having at least 2 internet browsers. It's really convenient. :)

Internet Explorer uses tabs too, unless you are using a really old version like IE6.
