Who wrote the music for the first mario game (called 'Mario Bros.')

In the classic 1983 arcade mario game....who wrote that music? I need to know for a school project I am doing about the music of Super Mario Bros.  :D 

And also, how do you pronounce: "Kōji Kondō"

I don't think there actually was music for the original arcade version (there certainly wasn't for the NES port, excepting the little jingle at the start of the level).
