Im staying an extra year in highschool to complete more maths and get higher grades in them, but im wondering if I need sciences? Most universities take the average of your top 6 4U or 4M courses so if you retake a course and get a higher mark you still earned that higher mark so they can be counted in your top 6. They seem to focus on learning the tools of the day. In my humble opinion, if you want to go into video games, learn the fundamentals. Tools come and go, but the fundamentals you can always rely on. Study computer science, fine arts, film or whatever is applicable to what you want to do in the video game industry. While studying, build up a portfolio. This will allow you to apply what you are learning in school to tools used in industry while actually creating something tangible you can demonstrate to prospective employers. Create an independent game or two, by yourself or with a group. You could do an unreal mod, make an XNA game, or put something together from scratch. Just my two cents on the topic. I'd be interested in hearing what others have to say.
