Alright, I'm having a discussion with zero-impact, and though I know this will probably be biased since most of you are CS students, I'm NOT putting CS on here for a reason.

I'm going to Japan some time this summer.

For learning, I'm using http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosetta_Stone_(software)

The Rosetta Stone software utilizes a combination of images, text, and sound, with difficulty levels increasing as the student progresses, in order to teach various vocabulary terms and grammatical functions intuitively, without drills or translation. They call this the "Dynamic Immersion method". The goal is to teach languages the way first languages are learned.

Someone also suggested buying UW's (or I suppose any University's) Japanese 101 course-notes and a work-book, and go through the material on your own.

I added Trade Skills (like shop type clases) as it seems only fair and is common calss in high schools.

Tho personally i went for science but it was almost tided with math for me. (Of cores computer Science would have been first if it was on the list ;))

If I ever go back to school (not going to happen), I'll like to try and get into a Quantum or Astro Physics program and a chance to play with UofW's new particle accelerator.

Cheers

+1 that stuff sounds interesting to me as well.

I just attended a physics talk at guelph by Dr. Deb Fischer on finding planets similar to Earth that was really good. A nice change from the comp sci lectures all the time.

Waterloo ... didn't I hear that news some 4 or 5 years ago? When they announced the quantum physics branch. Am I misinformed? Could be. I haven't been on campus since oh, 1982ish.

But I was sure I heard news of the quantum lab getting an accelerator, in the 3 or 4 mega volt range?

Cheers

Hmm, I seem to be the only one who put the arts (I made my avatar in case you were wondering). I also enjoy shop and English, but I really couldn't decide. Compsci is mainly a hobby for me, I'm not even going into that industry or anything close.

Even though it is just a hobby, I seem to have come far in my programming skills - much farther than I even expected.

hmm. I wasn't sure whether to pick math or science. I spent virtually ALL of my free time doing math when I was younger (that is, before I discovered CS) but I've fallen far behind the theoretical curve obtained by extrapolating my mathematical abilities from younger ages... I enjoy math the most but my greatest time involvement went into chemistry (seems that most of the smart high-schoolers in this country don't consider chem worthy... or it's just boring)

I would still choose math even if CS was on the list. However, that is because CS class (at least at our school) is boring. We don't learn anything at all and the teacher still manages to give us lots of work.

In high school, I enjoyed most of my courses equally (with a few exceptions). That said, I chose English since I believed it would have the least votes, guess I was slightly wrong. :)

Kind of hard to make a choice. I enjoy math, computer science, and physics. I'm best in math and computer science so those probably my favorites.

:) Another class that I really enjoyed was information technology. :D

I took Japanese in night school for ten weeks. I wanted to take a second, more advanced session but not enough people signed up . BTW ecookman, itterasshai is used whenever someone is going out somewhere (it could even be to the grocery store) - not sure if by 'trip' you meant what I just said or you were referring to a more vacation-like trip. Also, domo is a word with far too many meanings to be accurately defined without some sort of context (kind of like the word "set" in English). Domo probably can mean that, but it can mean a large number of other things as well (our sensei didn't give us any specific definitions, but did tell us that much).

Back to the main discussion, I'd have to say my favorite subject outside of CS has been and continues to be math class. Doesn't balancing an equation bring such a joy to your heart?
