IpodTouch Video help (MP4)

-----------------------------------

I've downloaded some stuff from youtube in mp4 format. In the details it actually says MPEG-4 Movie, so it SHOULD work.
Dragging it to itunes does nothing,
And if I right click > open using itunes/quicktime it says it's in a format that it doesn't understand.

Any help?

Can it play in another player? You may need a converter to change to another format.

You don't have to go through the pain of MP4 format. You can use a bit more convinient form of video, which will make the download from YouTube videos and putting it into your iPod Touch a lot more easier. Want to know how?
1. Go to website address, for example if you have http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3k1OYEZXSY, then click all of the previous stuff and press Ctrl + C (Ctrl, the plus sign and the key C). Then, it should automatically have the video website in the Free YouTube Download software (if not, then click paste button on the software, but it should be automatic).
6. Try the AVI format (it's located on the bottom of the software). AVI SHOULD WORK for any mp3 related technology.
7. Now, simply download.
8. After downloading is finished, find the video in your computer (wherever it is), and put it in your iPod Touch!

I tried to keep the literature to minimum (I am not a smart when it comes to lots of words lol). Anyways, it should work!

Good luck,

You don't have to use AVI btw -- you can use any format you wish to.

MP4 is just a compressed video type, isn't it? Like a JPG can be a compressed bitmap or PNG, etc.?

Its an extension to MP3 that is for video. MP4 has some pretty slick technology, not quite as slick as Ogg Vorbis, but still.

Now, for iPod, I'd reccommend this: http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Videora_iPod_Converter

PS: JWHarper, this is for an iPod Touch. It needs to be MP4, encoded with H264, with AAC audio(all apple tech :/ ) You can't just "use AVI" for an iPod Touch.

Thanks guys!
The reason I download my youtube in mp4 is because it's better video quality than what they use.
BEtter picture, and usually stereo sound.

BTW, the file extentions are in .mp4. I shouldnt have to convert?

Try 3GP Converter. It's free and converts almost any video file to iPod or PSP format.
