The Meaning Behind Your Quote

-----------------------------------

I'm trying to rival Tallguy's thread....just kidding :lol:

I was just curious how people got their quotes, and what they actually mean (cause some of them are just WHACK).

Here's the meaning of my quote:

The word 'complexities' has more than one meaning:
1). The compsci one (the number of steps that it takes to solve an instance of the problem as a function of the size of the input)
2). And the english one (complex issues...I think...)

Mine is supposed to be a joke (hahahahaha..........I have no friends :pde:)

Anyways, tell me what yours mean too :D

Although mine seems pretty self-explanatory, I feel the need to explain it anyway. It illustrates some of my beliefs even though I'm not quite that extremist. It is a quote from The Subtle Knife by Phillip Pullman. Part of (in my opinion) the best book series ever written, His Dark Materials. It is sort of out of context but the meaning still applies. I urge everyone to read these books but not to watch the movie (it is terrible).

... which is better than Dan's blog for sure lol :P

I don't have a quote but if I was to choose one, I'd probably pick, "Man is the only creature that refuses to be what he is," (Albert Camus). I see this quote as incredibly true, speaking lengths about the nature of humans and society in a few choice words. I believe that the quote means that, unlike animals, humans constantly try changing and innovating to become progressive. This "progression" constantly redefines what we are and what our purpose is in the world.

"I shall return."

My signature has two meanings, the first betraying a basic appreciation of both Douglas McArthur and military history (on that note, "May God have mercy on my enemies, for I won't.")

The second references my sworn duty to always give return values to my main () functions under Rule #26 of Compsci.ca's List of Programming Rules You Must Always Follow, Though You Know not Why
return 0;
main (), I salute thee. What choice is given to main () whether or not to run. Like the soldiers in The Charge of the Light Brigade, main () receives the order and: His not to make reply/ His not to question why/ His but to do and die/ Into the Valley of Death, ride the main ()
return 195;
Or maybe I just made that up on the spot.

My old quote used to be "I couldn't help myself - I rewrote your Map class", spoken by none other than wtd. I think everyone understands the significance of it.

Communist!Umm... what? At worst it's a guide for becoming a fascist leader (though not a very good one). The more obvious interpretation is a warning against letting your freedoms (a la US of A of late). There's nothing at all relating to communism in there... clearly your nuts.

Your quote is pretty similar to #9 of this list

9. Satan has been the best friend the Church has ever had, as he has kept it in business all these years!

Little bit of quick google work yielded those results.

Learn to use google :P First result for "recursive acronym" was http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recursive_acronym

PHP is "PHP Hypertext Preprocessor", though it was originally actually "Personal Home Page Hypertext Preprocessor" so :P (and I did know this before that article ;))
