default broswer in XP

somehow now that i launch firefox, it says its no longer the default browser (kudos for using firefox?)
i am afraid this may be caused by spyware so I'd like to know exactly what my default browser is.  AFAIK it is still points to firefox: i run a website and firefox is opened.  that makes me all the more curious.  searched in google, came up with nothing.  I used a registry monitor to see what keys firefox accessed to do the checking, and came up empty too.

A prompt should have came up the first time you opened firezox, asking you if you'd like to set it as your default browser.  If you open Internet Explorer the next time you want to get onto the internet, it will ask you if you want to set THAT to your default browser.  just read the prompt carefully.  This is not spyware, dont worry.

Whats the problem then, if you dont use IE?  If firefox is set to the default, and you use firefox ... i dont see a problem here.

I do not want to change my default browser.  I want to see what the current default is.

then Andy's suggestion will work, i believe, it will show you which is selected currently, with the option to change it.

my choices are:

X use my current web broswer
O IE
O mozilla

which doesnt tell me anything useful
