The oil is only part of it. The US has a war economy, and it has had one since WW2. By war economy I mean that the companies that make money off of war (Haliburton, etc.) or off of military production (Aerospace companies, etc.) have a very large influence on the policies and actions of the government. It's not very surprising then that the government acts in ways (war) that bring more money to those companies (Haliburton has made rediculous amounts of money off Iraq for example). Mostly what I'm trying to say is that the Iraq war has many motivations; and oil is only a secondary one.
