----------------------------------- md Wed Dec 06, 2006 12:44 am Desktops december 2006 ----------------------------------- 'Cause there wasn't a thread and I have a major new theme :P Sorry 'bout the size, but my LCDs are big! ;-) http://nxor.org/media/desktop20061206.jpg ----------------------------------- Mazer Sat Dec 09, 2006 7:37 pm ----------------------------------- Totally forgot to post mine. http://socr.uwindsor.ca/~coutso1/other_stuff/desktops/ubuntu_laptop_12_06.jpg Sorry for the poor jpeg compression. ----------------------------------- Silent Avenger Mon Dec 11, 2006 10:34 pm ----------------------------------- Nice desktops guys! Here's my December desktop. This is the first background pic I made so any comments on it would be great. Edit: The picture turns up slightly blurry because it's in jpg format. ----------------------------------- Amailer Mon Dec 11, 2006 11:12 pm ----------------------------------- Oh, wow that looks cool- is that YzDock or something? ----------------------------------- Silent Avenger Tue Dec 12, 2006 12:04 am ----------------------------------- It's a system dock, it comes with Alienware's new Xenomorphâ„¢ windows theme. If you like it you can download it here: http://www.alienware.com/intro_pages/invader.aspx ----------------------------------- Mazer Tue Dec 12, 2006 12:10 pm ----------------------------------- I liked the background better before I scrolled to the bottom-right corner and saw the anime girl there. :P Really, it looked pretty nice! ----------------------------------- Silent Avenger Tue Dec 12, 2006 2:53 pm ----------------------------------- Well I just added that in to fill up that corner because it seems bare there when all my icons are on the left side. What could I put in it's place? ----------------------------------- wtd Tue Dec 12, 2006 3:59 pm ----------------------------------- Nothing. Simple is good. ----------------------------------- Silent Avenger Tue Dec 12, 2006 4:28 pm ----------------------------------- Yeah but I'm not a simple kind of person. ----------------------------------- Cervantes Fri Dec 15, 2006 2:59 pm ----------------------------------- It's not as cold as it should be outside, so voila: [url=www.cervantes.compsci.ca/images/screenshots/2006%20December.JPG]winter Theme: [url=http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/20568306/]System5 Background: [url=http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/32932644/]Cryzlis ----------------------------------- Mazer Fri Dec 15, 2006 7:35 pm ----------------------------------- Surprisingly decent! But Cervantes, why are you always posting Windows screenshots? ----------------------------------- Cervantes Fri Dec 15, 2006 10:01 pm ----------------------------------- Because I'm using windows all the time now. I'm sorry guys, I've let you down. I might try setting up linux during the break. I don't really have any need for windows. It's just more convenient at the moment. ----------------------------------- uberwalla Sat Dec 16, 2006 2:36 am ----------------------------------- Noobie Question: What is the open window most of you guys have on your desktop? they all look similar so i was wondering :) ----------------------------------- Cervantes Sat Dec 16, 2006 12:26 pm ----------------------------------- md had x-chat (irc client) and Gaim (multi protocol IM client) open, Mazer had a terminal open, and I had foobar (media player) open. None were the same. ----------------------------------- md Sat Dec 16, 2006 12:54 pm ----------------------------------- I also had gkrellm2 running ;-) The dark was too much for me though, http://nxor.org/media/desktop20061216.png. Brighter, and with beryl because new nvidia drivers don't suck nearly as much. ----------------------------------- Silent Avenger Sat Dec 16, 2006 6:09 pm ----------------------------------- Your new theme md is (I think) a little too bright. ----------------------------------- Amailer Sun Dec 17, 2006 9:58 am ----------------------------------- Lesser people? Wow XD ----------------------------------- md Sun Dec 17, 2006 2:39 pm ----------------------------------- It's a perfect ranking! Me (top), People I talk to almost all the time, people I talk to most days, people I talk to infrequently, then there is one for family and cs.ca people. I do't see that it's too bright however... bright is good! Reminds me of the fact that soon winter will be over and I'll have heat again. ----------------------------------- uberwalla Sun Dec 17, 2006 3:28 pm ----------------------------------- ahh ic i thought maybe it was a code program to make b ackgrounds :P that woulda been cool cuz id wanna know where to get it to try it :P. (dont say that i can use stuff like other programs, cuz i know [just thought it was a special program] thx cervantes :) heres my lame background ----------------------------------- Silent Avenger Sun Dec 17, 2006 9:03 pm ----------------------------------- It's not that lame but I think I know what's wrong with it. There's too much sky and not enough ground so there isn't a good balance. Do you by any chance have photoshop, gimp or fireworks? If you did you could make yourself a pretty nice background. ----------------------------------- uberwalla Sun Dec 17, 2006 10:19 pm ----------------------------------- i have photoshop :) so u thinking i should cut half the top or something? :D ----------------------------------- Silent Avenger Sun Dec 17, 2006 10:50 pm ----------------------------------- No you don't need to cut half the top just recreate the bottom. ----------------------------------- uberwalla Sun Dec 17, 2006 11:35 pm ----------------------------------- o ok i think i understand. u mean make the city apear better and come out so its split focus kinda? and not have the sky the main focus? (draw the city more detailed?) ----------------------------------- RapidCP Tue Dec 26, 2006 4:38 am ----------------------------------- I know mine is hardcore messy, but its productive to what I need it for. http://www.staff94.com/public/productive.JPG ----------------------------------- Cervantes Fri Jan 26, 2007 5:57 pm RE:Desktops december 2006 ----------------------------------- Yeah, it's still December. http://www.cervantes.compsci.ca/images/screenshots/2007%20January.png I'm running Xgl/Beryl, but a screenshot can't really show many of the effects. I suppose I could have shown off opacity/brightness/saturation of windows, and reflections for windows, but that's about it. Got a new 20" widescreen LCD monitor, so that explains the resolution. :D
