Then Mac, without a question - as the 'computer in general' could run any OS (Mac, Linux, Windows), while a PC is limited to just the last two. Otherwise the Intel architecture is fairly similar anyways.. so ultimately it depends on the manufacturer. The point is that there are a lot more types of hardware than PC or Mac. I've never had any major problems with my pc because I know how to prevent spyware and virii. And Andy is correct, most busineses use Windows so that's an important factor to consider. At least as far as laptops go. For desktop machines I tend to play with a lot of different hardware, and macs aren't known for their hardware support (independent of OS, there are hardware incompatibilities). Mac Laptops are an excellent choice, and do give you an option for one more OS than anything else. Then again, i'm no computer genius, and barely know a thing about any other OS than Windows. It jsut sounds like alot of work, to uninstall the OS that MACs come with and then install a diffrent OS. It also sounds like alot of things can be screwed up in th process, converting all the drivers and stuff. Just wondering though, cause i've been thinking that i should try out Linux out once i get my new computer as the primary OS and have windows as a secondary. Why would you have to uninstall anything? Just use Apple's own Boot Camp software to install Linux in a dual-boot arrangement with Mac OS X. Then you can install Windows and use the Linux bootloader of your choice to triple-boot. We're assuming that people who take about "choice" being a good thing would want to buy a computer that gives them the most choice in terms of software. No, a Mac does not offer the absolute greatest level of hardware choice, but what you do get is good hardware at a good price. Anyways, I'm not only talking about personal program. Mac is just not as popular as PCs and you might have some trouble trying to cross files between the two. Sure, many things are portable but some are still not. Windows/Linux/FreeBSD/Minix/ WILL run on macs. At least it will if there are drivers for the mac hardware; and for most OSs there are such drivers.
