Hate to break the spirit here... but he drowned, yes he might have been a great person, and he was young; but that fails to make it a tragedy.

Tragic is when thousands die ever yyear from second hand smoke, people who are in essence being killed by smokers; and that major corperations are making millions of it. That's tragic. One person dieing by drowning is simply life, it happens.

At the same time, my condolences to his family and friends.

Point seen, however the loss of life be it one or many is tragic. Tragic to his family, his friends, and loved ones. You can't take that away from them. Simply because this is not something you can see or fight, does not make it any less of a painful event. Yes this gained notice due to his age and previous fame. However, the communal mourning needn't be just for RBL, but for whatever calamity might be afflicting each person.

Tragic is defined as: "very sad; especially involving grief or death or destruction; "a tragic face"; "a tragic plight"; "a tragic accident""

I saw the river on TV... it was huge (although i dont believe i saw the railings on the side). I can only come up with only a few speculations, one is that he cant swim (altough i havent heard this before), the other is that he somehow fell into the river and lost his consciousness. the third involves someone else besides himself.

they are now creating a scholorship (correct my spelling someone) in his name at the university. Funny isn't it? One who dies a publicized death is so mourned.
