Post here for any other online games that you are fond of.
web page based or otherwise.

Yeah, what better to waste time on than play a free online game? My cousin showed me this Ogame thing and its acually quite well made.

Universe 18 and i'll join anyone in their rise - it doesnt take long to understand the game.
         www.ogame.org

Another which i quit because it got mightily boring was www.kingdomofloathing.com
its fun for a bit, a parody of all RPGs

Oh, and Savage: Battle for newerth was a great free online game
a mix between warcraft 3 and a FPS, truely origonal

72.36.128.82:5123 -> Beginners Park 3-3
72.36.130.235:5123 -> Beginners Park 3-2
I play on those two a lot, usually fun, though sometimes the people there get annoying. Don't be decieved by the name though. ;)

You can also try out 207.210.238.181:27960 and 8.9.8.142:27960 for more 'competition' style gameplay, though you probably know what that means (as in most games).

Note: Be prepared for some downloads before actually playing.

Oh, and I haven't played at all in a little while since my connection has been downgraded to dial-up...

Yeah well, savage was a bit poorly made, but the concept was great. One player on each team is the wc3-view builder and commander, that can give commands to all the players in first person (whom follow only if they want to) I found the game to be prty good, if you can get past the oversized maps and the buggish teams (im prty sure one tower just peppers down unholy hell on anything that gets within range) Anyways, I lost my CD key so i cant play :( or i'd be plaything that right now. Or wc3. Meh, my net connection cant play any of them -- mass drop out-age.

Actually, now that you describe Savage like that I'd recommend you at least look into Natural Selection (Half Life[and 2] mod). Aliens vs marines fun.
On the marines side, one player jumps into the commander's chair and plays like an RTS, giving out orders, placing things to be built and handing out upgrades. The rest get to shoot things :)
The aliens don't really have this "RTS view" but it's still good strategy. Damnit, I wanna play again.

I used to play a game called [url=http://www.maplestory.com]Maple Story. It's a free MMORPG, but I found it incredibly boring. I know a couple other people that still play it, and how they don't get bored of it boggles my mind. It's actually kinda cool, the characters are drawn somewhat so that they look like anime characters do. It is also 2d. That is the part of the game I liked, but it is really repetitve. The quests consist of "bring me this and I give you money and experience." But what they want brought to them, is what monsters drop. So you're constantly killing monsters to collect different things to bring to these people. There isn't really a storyline.

There are different clients released. They are basically the same, but belong to a different series of servers. The American one is called [url=http://www.mapleglobal.com]Maple Global, the Korean one is [url=http://www.maplesea.com]Maple Sea, then there's a portal type thing at http://www.maplestory.com

Nowadays, I spend most of my time making my own games, which I actually enjoy testing and playing more than a LOT of the online games... probably because the games I make are tailord to my whims, and not the whims of some other game creator. :P

Nothing wrong with "Double kill!" aside from the sound not really fitting in with CS. My problem was with sounds like chicken.wav, yeehaw.wav and others from the useless-and-stupid category.

As for the Half-Life mod, I haven't got it off-hand, but I'm sure that even if GOOGLE doesn't have a link on their MAIN SEARCH PAGE they'll probably know where you can get it. Oh yeah, and it's probably on Steam too.

Yeah. ive been in games where theres upwards of 100 .wav files of uselessness, And theres nothing more gratifying than hearing 'RAMPAGE' and whatnot after removing the brains of so many CTs in a row, via shotgun. I'll search for the game on the weekend, when i have an acual good net connection.
btw i never saw it on steam...

Did you play in a league or something? ;)
Defend Your Castle was definately addicting for the 2 days I played it. The first day my friend showed it to me I only got to level 7 or something. The next day... Sadly I stayed up almost all night playing. I forget which level I got to, but it was above 80, may have even been above 100. After that, I never felt like playing again. ;)

Sadly, yes. In some cases. The bad thing is that you never know which server will need 30mb of downloads and which will require a 10kb map cycle. The good thing is, that usually when you download these obscure sounds/skins you have an option to turn them off in the game menu.

Anyway, what I would expect to have to download for most servers would be a few new maps and a mod. Few servers play on etmain (no mod) nowadays, it's either etpub (highest probability of having extra files) or else etpro (more objective style, less extra files).

No, I played independantly, but I got to the point where I could storm an encampment of 5 good players with a thompson and pistols and emerge victorious.

At some point in time though, my old computer stopped being able to run the game well, and by the time I got back into it when I got a new computer, there were a hell of a lot of custom maps, and no one wanted to play the old maps (Which were my favourites) anymore, so I just kinda gave up on it and havn't played it since... I remember spending my entire summer, I think it was two years ago, playing that game. good times  sad to see em go. If you were on back then, you probably played me. I moved on to WCIII after that, and now, like I said before, I mostly just make my own games.

SC > WC

Everyone only plays WC for the RPG element. Hence, DOTA. Thats why they have WoW. For an RTS, SC is the way to go.

For those of you who dont understand my acronyms, its ok, the basic gist is that you should go out and but starcraft and play me.

TheOneTrueGod, ah yes, that is fairly easy to say, but was it on a server full of newbies? (of course, that is relative...) ;)

Yeah, nowadays there are a lot of custom maps, but there are still some servers which play the originals mostly. Though you should also try out some of the new ones; Supply Depot, Venice, and some others are quite nice. If you think you haven't lost too much of your skill then you might want to try out these servers (both etpro stopwatch):
8.9.8.142:27960 - SNL Stopwatch
69.90.33.175:27960 - ET-Core Box East
The maps there are pretty fun, and the people there play right (ie. revive, objective, overall good). Anyway, I suggest you try it out again. :)

Oh, and yeah, I was playing back then also. I've been playing ET (with lots of stops in the meantime) since it came out.

A great game I found a while ago on the corners of the net was "Gunz" just google it, I dont know if its still up. "Gunbound" is also a great way to waste tons of time or if your looking for an mmorpg then "Anarchy Online" is ok but its free so who cares about the quality! (all these games have to be downloaded) Check em out and enjoy.
Also WC>SC It has much more freedom in map creation.
And on Wolfingstine, you have no skill till you can take down a flamethrower with a knife. (Join Wolfingstine italia xpsave 1/2/3)

Also, supply depot/venice are definitely not new lol. THey just arent the standard maps. I actually really like helmsdeep. Only cuz I once got 42/2 and 42 headshots. Yeah I was an asshole sniper but shhhh twas fun.

@Toxic_Ninja Re-WC > SC
Its true it has a better editor but... an editor doesnt make a game, plus the SC community has still managed to make RPGs, Diplomacy, hell even strip the girl games. But seriously, online do you even play WCIII on its own? You probly play stuff like DOTA, which is fun, but just goes to show... the RTS element of WC isnt that great.

It all depends what you're looking for in an RTS. I like the addition of heroes to the warcraft because it gives a sense of accomplishment to keeping one unit alive. Overall, i'd have to say WC3 = SC, for the simple reason that they are almost different categories of games. In one, very little micromanagement is needed (SC). huge difference when theres 10 there.]

As for wolfET, I guess that i'd have to say yes, they were noobs, relative to me :P. I can't play currently, because my computer has spyware/adware to the point where they are reproducing amongst themselves, and I can't reinstall windows because apparantly you can only install it X number of times... Stupid microsoft. Maybe someday I'll get back online...

Well, that explains a lot. :P

I'd argue that micromanaging is also very important in StarCraft and can make the difference in mass-units situations. Take arbiters or high templars when used right for example. A few of those and some well placed backup can beat a mass dragoon rush.

Anyway, good luck getting ET (and *cough*winders*cough*) back up and running.

Chrispminis, added you to GandalfTheGrey. We should set some games up. Anyone else? :)
As for Enemy Territory... I usually get around 40% accuracy and 16% headshots with an smg.

To say that SC requires very little micro just demonstrates that either you havent played SC, or just not very well lol. I agree that WC3 definitely takes a lot of micro, having played it for a bit. Probably more so that SC. But SC definitely takes a lot of micro, macro, and strategy. Ive never played WC3 for very long, since elves and whatnot dont appeal to me, but SC is much funner. Plus DOTA takes much less micro, from what Ive played, and everyone plays DOTA. One unit in SC makes all the difference. No matter what circumstances. Spellcasters more so than others obviously. But in a game where numbers dont matter as much, efficient use of units will matter more.

DOTA is evil, it has taken over the custom map area and brainwashed the minds of the users. I find little point to play that game, and would rather play things with more... balance?
DOTA consists of
-ar
pray for rigged hero
get rigged hero
kill everything
act very co.cky
win
play again

Like... even enimity campaign is more balanced then DOTA, hell, Gods land, looking at god vrs normal player, even thats more even!
I go into custom and see 8 DOTA games in a row, sigh, and host somthing random
