Ubuntu Dapper released today

-----------------------------------

I'm sure everyone on digg will just love to hear about it
Has anybody installed it yet? My download was interrupted by my crappy two-piece network cable, and shortly afterwards I managed to rm -rf my home directory. Fortunately the install CD is a live CD and I'm in the process of recovering my st0led megahurtz. So far, things look nice (well, as nice as they did in the preview I was running a few months ago). I can't wait to see all the uptodate packages available.

ah, sweetness! I'm going to Toronto in an hour or so, but I'm installing this on my laptop when I get back.

Umm... how'd you manage to rm -rf your home directory?

I was running from the CD and mounted my home partition and a few others to check certain files, after which I meant to delete the contents of a partition I mounted... well, I'll pick better names than "/mnt/tmp" and "/mnt/temp" next time. No worries though, a simple reiserfs command from Google restored everything I couldn't do without and I'm good to go.

Time to tweak.

it wouldnt detect my Dlink DWL-G520 Xtreme G pci wireless card

i tried everything, even installing ndswrapper, so i just brought my router and DSL modem up here and hardwired it ... much easier and i like the security better.

I've used linux-based systems quite a bit, but I've never really considered doing a home install (dual boot, of course) - but the liveCD previewing is rather enticing.

Any heads up advice over using this vs. gnoppix/knoppix (which has way more apps auto-loaded) or any other distribution of preference?
