there are programs out there that could set your machine as a ftp server, the only one i have tried is BulletProof Ftp Server. They should have a free trial at their website

I've heard good things about FileZilla though.. plus it's free, so you might want to check that one out as well

I use FileZilla, it's pretty good. You can download full version at: http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/ It's pretty ezy to use. I haven't used any of the other ones, but if u need help settin this one up i can lead u through it. I actually have an ftp site runnin right now u can check it out ftp://slike.cjb.net

If you want to set up an actual server, you need a different class of program.

I highly recommend "Serv-U FTP". I've used it before, lots - it has simple, comprehensive setup. Everything is pretty self-explanatory, and the options are where you'd expect them to be.

I think you can download the corporate trial (free) which turns into the personal version after 30 days.

If you use Filezilla, the default ftp site is ftp://yourIPaddress/ e.g. ftp://84.323.532.2/ So you can use a web hoster (such as cjb.net, or .tk) and redirect it to your site (the one with the ip). Filezilla, as mentioned before, is free + unlimited
