If people are having troubles with their computers they'll likely post in [General Discussion] or [Off Topic] about it. And I don't think the problems occur often enough to warrant having their own message board for it. You might have one post a week about problems and solutions, and the rest (if any) would be offtopic "post your desktops", "fatal wish game", "omg my teacher sucks" type threads with "me too" and "lol" style replies. You can't really start a community without anyone contributing anything of value. How did compsci.ca start? It was all about Turing at first because the people who created this site were learning Turing at the time, and there were no decent online communities for learning the language at that time. Tech support you can find anywhere and usually don't need to worry about whether anybody is going to visit the message board and find your post. Also if your goal is 24/7 suport then a small forum is not going to work, and you whould need a very large user base. Dont jump back with your post sin defence of your web site, we told you what you need and why people wont join , we are not lying. its the truth , there are a million support pages out ther , make a reason why people should go to yours. Remember that your just a kid aswell , dont expect to have a booming web page, unless you have a mass marketing plan and some highly eductated people. nothing is going to happen over night. its taken compsci years to becomee what it is, and it was done by hte people. They were hte mass marketing , you would hear " go check out htiis site where people post these crazy games" or " i found a place wher eyou can get help for turing, its like the only one in existance" thats compsci's purpose for being around ,the other forums and help , and chat are just offspring that have slowly evolved. People who originally joined for Turing have gone one to learn new things , or get intrested in other topics which allow the community to grow in terms of knowledge and support. Do you intend on making any money out of this?
