my friend says that when you first connect to xbox live and set up an account and use the free coupon codes that you go in games that say 2 free months or whatever, he says he did that but they wont let you start unless you provide a credit card number and right after those 2 months they will start billing you? is this true?

is there any way you can cancell the subscription before they start billing you, thats so cheap they make systems, you buy them , and then a year down the road they make a new system and now u can't get games for yours, and on top of that they charge you to use an online server that barely anybody is using.

you can cancel it at the end. and no thats not stupid, thats how you make moeny. I think bill gates has more money than you, no? and as for the new system, its backwards compatible for most games, and it came out 4 years after their first one

Here's a tip: when going out to the store to buy a new PC, you do some research first. Compare prices, whatever. You might even try to learn how a computer works, and learn to be computer literate. It's like buying a car. When you think about it, it is a rather large investment. So, instead of complaining, learn from your mistakes. Next time, when you go to buy a new gaming console, do some research on available consoles at the time. Then, you'll be able to make an informed decision.

WoW dose that too, but you could do what i did and canasle your credit card b4 the billing perioed is over and then they can't crage you anything. Did that to one of compsci.ca's old hosts too b/c they where trying to carge us affter we stoped using them.

i just heard today that there is a program or application that you can use where you hook up to the xbxo console to your internet router via LAN cable, and you can play xbox online without using xbox live, which is convenient becuase i was just thinking why doesnt someone do that. and apparently its free...

yes ur right, i respect gates very much. but do u think HE made that decision, xbox isnt even run by microsoft, its just under thier name, he probably dusnt even run microsoft day to day anymore. besides, their competitor (ps2) offers that service for free.

what does backwards compatible mean?

It means the newer technology still works with the old. Like PS2 can play PS1 games.

You run it on a computer and it tricks your xbox into thinking it's playing a local machine, but in reality it's tunneling the info across the internet to another machine.

They use the excuse that the credit card information allows for verification on your account.

err no it doesnt.. it basicly tells ur xbox its on lan, and then rallies the signal to some where over the internet

There are problems with XBC though. You must manually select the games you want on the computer before you can join. It doesn't work every time and sometimes servers are very laggy. Not many games are available, especially compared to Live. Halo 2 probably has the most open games at any one time.

Dude Xbox connect is dead.

everyone has been using Xlink Kai. its huge i mean friggeing enourmous. they have huge tournaments aswell with cool prizes.
and their one software app works with

PSP
Xbox
PS2
Xbox 360
PC
and more.....

If you have a modded consloe ( as you should) they have apps that go right onto hte console itself and you dont need a PC at all.

also if your cool enough and own a WRTG54 router from linksys you can rewrite the firmware with Xlink Kai built in and just use your router , and once again cut out the PC.

Yay for knowing lots about this service.

PS , im an avid Xbox live fan aswell now , since i got my360 and 12 months subscription for christmas
