pci-adapter

when i try to install a pci adapter to my computer, the linksys software tells me that my adapter is inactive, how do i activate it?

well lets take 5 steps back.

1) What PCI adapter are you installing (be specific)
2) Does it come with software drivers
3) Does the manufacturer website have a FAQ that solves your problem
4) Are you sure the PCI slot is working , and not dead
5) Are you really batman.

well, i would be more forthcoming with info if i knew more, all i know is that i installed the driver, then the PCI card. then windows told me it detected new hardware, and asks me if i want to install a driver to it. i click yes, and install from the cde again. then when i open the network monitor (installed with the driver), it tells me that my adapter is "Inactive"

the card is wireless so sometimes it says its inactive if you haven't configured it properly. you need to configure it to connect to the wireless access point that you've setup, such as entering the ssid for the network and if you have any security setup for it like wep encryption then you need to enter your code for that as well

YES! OF COURSE IT MATTERS! obvoiusly people in china dont use normal computers! everybody knows that  8-) dip your computer in cooking oil, then try it.

well it's a neat cooling solution, but the main thing is because of noise.. with that set up, you'll have a perfectly quiet system.

lol... apaarntly its pretty stable... but eventually the wire coatings will melt in the oil.. then the fun starts =P
