** hope these tutorials are helpful, since i've never used them.
** all i did to learn java: went to libraries and borrowed books on java.
** books are so much better, they explain complex concepts with ease and clarity
** some of these concepts are not touched by online tutorials.

here are some book i recommend:
beginners:  Java2 (by wrox) [really boring otherwise]
beginners -to- advanced: [url=http://java.oreilly.com/]O'Reilly's series on java   (imho these are the best)
advanced: Prefessional Java Programming (by wrox)

there's a bunch of different books on different languages (especially C++ and Java), but they're all expensive. If your library has some more resent publishing (probably not) it would be the best choice. Otherwise you can just go an read them in Chapters, which I call "commersial library" since a lot of people just come to read books there  :lol:
