Desktop Viewing Software

-----------------------------------

I'm hoping someone would be able to help~

I'm looking for some kind of software that would allow one computer to be able to "see" the desktop of another... kind of like Remote Desktop or Remote Assistance.

Does anybody know of anything? Thanks in advance!

BackOffice is another one.

BackOrifice is the supposed-quasi-trojan version. Some people argue that it's a better all-round program for some legitimate purposes.

:3 It appears to be discontinued...

We're looking into FreeNX, but it seems awfully complicated.... I mean, this will be for University Professors who probably don't have time to figure all of this out X_X

So, like [url=http://www.realvnc.com]VNC? There are many variants as well.

Aa yes, VNC is the one we're looking into right now.

Sorry if I mis-use terms, I'm still really new to this. I'll let everyone know how this pilot project progresses :D

FreeNX is approximately a bajillion times faster than VNC, and obscenely simple to set up. The only downside is that the server only works on Linux for now, and I'm assuming you were talking about Windows machines. :(

Weeeell yeah. If we do set up any kind of server-ish stuff, it'll be on Windows (if at all, it's up to IST [Information Systems and Technology], the department that governs the computer systems at UW). I'm currently working with Knoppix though, to try and get this working... and my supervisor seems keen on making this x-platform. (He doesn't seem to like windows very much :3)
