Free VB6 alternative

Since Microsoft declared it was going to stop development and support for Visual Basic on March 31st, 2005, REALbasic is being offered for free until April 15th, 2005. I've downloaded it and tried it out and, for the most part, it seems almost identical to VB, so VB users will find it quite easy to transition over.

You can go to http://www.realsoftware.com/realbasic/vb6/index.php to get your free license. Note that this is a limited time offer and this is the full version. This usually costs something like $100 US (don't quote me on that though).

It's not a "learning edition" where you can't make .exe files either. My VB teacher gave me a link where you can download VB5 for free, but you can't make .exe's so it seemed rather pointless.

More information at http://www.realsoftware.com/company/pressreleases/pr_10000vb.html

Don't miss out on this great opportunity.

Thanks for the tip, bass_maniac. Too bad I've been so busy lately and didn't see this before the 15th. Confused
And also thanks to betaflye. From what I gather, it seems that Microsoft will mail you a copy of Visual Basic .Net. Aah, I guess that means I have to use real information and wait a couple of weeks. Heh...
