Post subject:  Post links to your favourite websites here! (no more topics)

Since I'm beginning to see an increase in the threads about you kids making up your fancy pants websites I've decided to make a thread about links. Of course, this idea is indeed stupid since we do have a Links page for you kids to go to, but seeing how you don't like to explore this site outside of SPAM I guess I have no choice but to make this thing.

Of course, because I've made a topic about your links, I will be locking (deleting will be soon) all your topics advertising them.

Stickified until a mod/admin says otherwise

Does anybody know of a site with good quality desktop backgrounds? Searching for wallpaper on google tends to give me really crappy websites featuring wallpaper in categories such as 'nature', 'animals', 'military', 'celebrity', and more that could make good pictures but terrible backgrounds. You know what I mean? I'm looking for something abstract maybe, but without a shitload of contrast. Something with a few colours that blend smoothly into each other. Or just something that's really cool (but not with too much contrast).

(pictures != decent wallpaper).

EDIT: also, if you happen to know of a good Enlightenment and XMMS theme... Wink

Its free, and its not time consuming in the way of MMORPG's, there is no "grind".
For example, I personally own in golem games with my ninja. And I own people in deathmatch with my soldier. I own stages with my blacksmith. But this does not require hours of grind, its based on me seeing and capitalizing on my character's strong and weak points, plus some skills and practice Razz

the game's great for some relaxing non-complicated fun. F4 is to change control though, I personally prefer the FPS type control, its very important for a melee-type.

BTW, I don't pay for any games.

AmpFusion - Up and coming underground music site. Coded by a good friend.

Newgrounds Programming Forum - Has a good community, but not enough people who really know what they are doing. Their are some great programmers, but as I said, not enough. Also, because there are so many new-comers who have only been around programing for a short time, allot of people have attitudes. If you ignore them though, it's a nice place to hang around. This is also more of a web development forum. Most people know other languages, but prefer web development and PHP.

So... you have your own barely trafficed CS forums? Interesting I suppose...

But what part of "Less spamming these damned cities." didn't you understand?

If you want me to take off the city, I will. At least it's not only a city post, there's other stuff too. I'm working on the traffic, right now I need content to get it. Razz

www.friendcodes.com

If you wish to play any Nintendo games online (like the new Super Smash Brothers Brawl), you basically need this website.

The "Games" tab at the top allows you to join on-going games and chat in real-time with the other players. We're basically providing you with everything Nintendo should have provided you with to begin with.

*ahem* Bad web developer! Bad! NO twinkie for you! I know IE is the most used browser, but you still shouldn't exclude or reccomend any one browser to your users. Your only job is to make sure your website works in their browser, no matter what it is.

Maybe globally. The breakdown varies greatly depending on the target audience.

On CompSci.ca/blog Firefox makes up for 61% of all visitors. IE (all versions) is just 28%.

http://www.randi.org/site/ This is the offical website of the James Randi Educational Foundation. The goals of the foundation can be summarized from their about us page:
"The James Randi Educational Foundation is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1996. Its aim is to promote critical thinking by reaching out to the public and media with reliable information about paranormal and supernatural ideas so widespread in our society today."1

The SWIFT blog is had entries over interesting topics relating to the paranormal, psychics, homeopathic medicines and other pseudo sciences.

I've followed this blog for a long time and it is always interesting. If you want you could also drop by the JREF forums where there are new discussions. (I myself just lurk Razz)

Hilarious quotes from Robin from the original Batman TV series:

http://holysmokesbatman.com/playall

This is great to play in the background while your doing something else, as some of the things he says are shockingly hilarious in their absurdity
Most of the clips are only a few seconds (almost always less than 10 seconds) long, but some are maybe like 12 seconds long because they are giving you at least a little context, though never enough to provide a rational explanation for the ridiculous things he says.

Online game type thing I've been working on over the last week.

I don't know if any of you played broken picture telephone (website that disappeared about a year ago), but this is pretty much a clone of it. If you don't know it, there's instructions on the about page.

The site's completely flash free, all Javascript
