is there any channel out there called 'non-stop jap anime'? i havne't seen any channels with anime on it only :S sad.. also this topic was split from bonus anime w/e.. to winamp... and how it sucks.. or how it is the best :S!!!

I don't like winamp much either, but then I realized it's all I can use. I need a player that can be minimized to the tray without cluttering up the taskbar and the ability to change song, and volume and pause and stuff while keeping the program out of the way the whole time. I really like BSPlayer but they don't have hotkeys (or any plugins for hotkeys it seems) and the playlist support is crap. What do you use, Dan?

aucaly i made my own in java, but it dose not play divx well. so i uses divx palyer, or WMD most of the time. i got a realy new comp and sound card so winamp dose not even run on my main mashine.

yea... UR CRAZY!!! have u tried WINAMP radio??? there are thousands of COOL shoutcast streams.... !!!!!!! yea... global hotkeys ARE THE BEST! winamp AVS also ROCKS... plsu winamp can do VIDEOS... BURN and RIP CDS.... .. good playlist... what more do u want>??? WMP SUCKS~ win media playa.... cuz... its SLOW takes too much time to load.... and is ANOYING>>!!! plus no good radio when ur playing a game and winamp in the TASK bar.... being able to press CTRL+ALT + up and down buttons for volume is critical so u dont blow ur speakers....* when u have it really loud... also... WINAMP is good for school.... u can install without admin password to install (also u can just copy the folder from ur home comp cuz it dont need registry) ... then u can have it not to show on taskbar or tray... cuz then... u can minimize winamp... plug in earphones... have it on random loop... then the teachers ask... what are u listening to or... what program is that...... i say... NOTHIng... cuz they cant see it (even when they CTRL+ALT+DEL it dont show... its only it processes ) (they dont like streaming music cuz it slows network) i was listening to MP3's but... still... they dont like programs... so thats my rant for the day!

My Windows Media Player won't even play X-MEN or Cowboy Bebop so I have to use VLC. Windows Media Player sucks!!!!!! Or at least it does on my computer.

hmmm.... pent1.... 120 MHz..... winamp 2 isntalled PERFECTLY.... winamp5... INSTALLED perfectly.. with AVS.. and much more...((sounded good)) WIN 98.. i have a Anolog Devices 18/65xxx something like that soundcard.. have u heard of them.... (ITS OLD)! so it was prob just UR system.. winamp works great.... as in new tech... hmm.... its alien ware... that shits too rare for winamp to care rhymed.... windows Media player has money comming outa their A$$'s... so yea.. they can do that stuff... as for newer comp... ive had winamp 2 and 5 on winnt, 2.3 GHZ systems at school... ACER... and they have good soundcards... ((also on their multimedia systems***sound mixing etc... and it worked... ..... dont fight me on this... i am a total Winamp FAN! or fanatic..

and i am totaly anti-winamp. i could hostly make a better mp3/vid player then winamp in java and have basicly done it for uses with my FP in compsci class this year. and i dont think alineware is that rare, may be the technogly is new but it is not that diffrent from any other computer system with new hardware. but it also dose not run on my other computers is avg hardware, may be i am just very unlucky. (but still when u are out done by M$ there is somtng wrong)

did u install any aftermarket extensions to winamp?? the one with the problems... otherwise.... ur settings are off prob.. in control panel for windows.. go to multimedia... then select only use prefered devices for mic and sound card... then no matter what... it will always use ur sound card .. dont happen to me... but i could understand that the problem... second... winamp is wicked for global hotkeys... i can get enough of them,.... so also the Equilizer is wicked... yea... 4 years ago... winamp REALLY sucked.. hehehe./.. oldversion.com <<has the first winamp release... its soooo SAD..... but funny cuz its really old.. yea dan... u just unlucky.. Try winamp 5, bust out some cool music... have global hotkeys on.. have a wicked AVS visual * there are some included with winamp... but winamp.com has THOUSANDS! and i garuntee enjoyment..* if it works ... (wont for unlucky dan) PFFfff!! also... winamp 5* burn CDs.... RIP CDs <<<to mp3 format... ((need full version...)) but thats not a problem is it also... winamp.com TONS AND TONS of plugins.... so many... below are features that can be done with plugins... u can play GAMES, DIVx movies, have a remote control hooked up to a IR reciever or paralelle port.... and control it in winamp... skins by the thousands... , u can use ur mic, u can record .mp3 or wav files.... .. advanced sound plugins (more advanced equilizer and stuff like dat..)... use input from soundcard.... midi.... tons and tons of stuff.... too much to post at once... so.... how dare u imply winamp sucks....!!!! lets see WMP use a remote control or play games rant for today...**

ah my WMP can uses a remote conorl, alineware laptops come with a remote conortl that can be used to contorl WMP. and i blive it to be posable for M$ to put games on it if they whonted since it dose have a browsers in it so a java aplet could be easly put in, but the qestion is why do i whont to play games in WMP? i whont my meaid player to: 1. run, 2. not crash, 3. play songs, and 4. play vid. so far winamp has done none of thous things for me, lol

I give up on things made by others... its VERY easy to make a decent music/vid player in VB... you use the WMP controls ( yeah i said WMP) but it loads fast because it doesnt load all the crap in wmp... if anyone wants to see how fast my vid player loads, ill post it (its only 1 vid at a time tho, playlist coming soon!) i use it mostly for watching anime whoever said vids were not working with WMP, apparently XviD doesnt work with WMP 9 if thats what you have.

Winamp also has a browser... i dont think its JAVA.... it works great.... also... winamp has: winamp library... easy to search for radio and live video streams... also ... that is wehre the burning and ripping options are... yea... GAMES... just watch out for wild tangent... its kinda SPYWARE.. spy sweeper by: webroot is MUCH better then adaware and finds and removes all that crap... so... if u do want to play a game by wild tangent... just run spy swepper and/ or ad-ware afta... not all games for winamp are wild tanget... but lots are *** they are clearly noted... GEISS makes the BESt visuals in my opinion ... some skins to look for.. Car steroe systems.. some ppl make them to match their deck in their car. so... search pioneer or w/e and u will prob find some nice stuff..

hahah... hmm... but,, winamp has more.. . plus.... DAN.... not everyone has alienware so they can have that remote... second..... i dont see WMP being able to come apart??? can urs do that??? winamp can seperate into each section: browser, main, playlist, EQ, vis also... winamp can be always on top... i dont know if WMP can do that... perfect for Ie... i have it always on top... and to the right of the 'help' menu item.... YES ITS TAHT SMALL!! note: to use winamp well... u MUSt look at the shortcuts section.... * also... cool feature of winamp 5... if ur comp is slow u can use the Old school skin (lookz like winamp 2) which is faster for me (i have pent 1 ) or... u can use the MODERN skin which lookz WICKEd... but is a little slower for me... also... winamp is ultra small and compact... or if u dont like it small... u can press the Double size button and its much larger... yay... somewehre to share my joy of winamp also.... if winamp ever gets screwy... u compelte uninstall.. u restart comp... then download the install file <<<under 5MB! ).... and it installs fast... WMP: huge file to download.... ... slow to install..... biatch if it fricks up cuz its SOOO integrated into windows... ...... and u need to restart comp afta install last time i had it...

well as it has been staed b4, winamp has everyhting every othre player dose man. WMP has skins too, and i dont think it is that big of a dl if you not using like 25k dialup modome, and it comes with windows too so ushely u only dl updates. so lets sopt arguing about this pointlessness, the java one made by sun beats them all since it is open sorce any how, lol.

The more you talk about it, the_short1, the more I become convinced of how stupid winamp is. Winamp was created to play music. Why the hell does it have a browser? Why the hell does it play games? Why are skins necessary? Do you spend your time listening to music while staring at the program? Hacker Dan is, as usual, correct. Where can I get this java player?

the java one comes with the Java Media Framework, and is bascilk and example of what u can do with it. not a tone of options but it works and if it dose not u can redcode it, lol. dose have some trouble with some codecs tho. i think it (JMStudio) should come with the frame work here: http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jmf/2.1.1/download.html but over all w/e runs on your comp and can do what u whont is best. I am just trying to say that progamers should at least try to make there progames protable, if the poleop who worked on winamp updated it more whould i have problems with it? may be may be not, but WMP is updated offten and easly (with windows update) so thats why i blive it to be better then winamp. the java one will probly work on most systems out there since it probly uses the JVM witch i belvie also makes it better then winamp b/c somting that works > then somting that dose not.

errm.... i will resay this.. winamp CAN do that... but... only if u download those plugins.. winamp is very ADAPTABLE!...... by itself.... its basic.. SMALL..has what u need... not what u dont.... yea they update ,,, granted not as much as WMP... but they dont need it...... the size of WINAMP is much much smaller then WMP... and is much much FASTER.... therefore.. if u go to winamp.com ... then download a crap load of plugins... then it can do the remote control... mic.... mp3 export..... the games.... the visualizations.... it only comes with a coupleand 2 skins.. yea... a good looking skin just lookz cooler.. for me i use either a car stereo one... or Mountain Dew <<has a MD popcan for the slider

well if u whont a new quiz pm me with a good question that can not be looked up easly. also i do not whont to restart the winamp thing but i could not let this go: after trying winamp on 3 comps and it not working i desied what the hell, why not try a 4th. so today i instaled it on another computer i have and it aucaly worked. WOW eh? but this fun was short last till i relised when i reboted my computer that some how the instaler for winamp has coropted all my hadrdives partions and all the files on them . my god it messed up so badly that nothing will boot any more even when using safemod and/or recovery disks. the only option i have left now is to format my comp. now some will tell you that a mead player that corptes your hdd is a good thing looks at the_short1 but i am a fast bliver in progames that delete all your files are ether 1. bad or 2. virus. and i have never seen WMP messe over a system like this!

U got PwNd by a hacker... conminceedence at the same time u tried winamp././ there is No WAy in HELL that it could wreck ur partisions.. god... it doesn;t even need registry (i have my winamp folder on a CD with 150 mp3's so i can listen to them without having it installed on a computer (if i at school or a friends house ) common.. u got hacked./... simple... ... no way winamp did that.. did u download winamp from winamp.com ?? otherwise it mita been a bad version that was edited... yea../.. another thing.. can u burn WMP to a cd ??? dont think so... u need to INSTALL.. for winamp.. burn the winamp directory to a CD... bring it to school or another compuyer.... open winamp... ...... OMG ... it WORKS~!! ***worked 100% in winamp 2.... for winamp 5 it says a file.dll not found on startup..... but the player still works perfectly.. EDIT: i will think up a quizz soon :0

nope it was winamp lets think about it: 1. the comp was not online, other then the few mins it toke me to dl it from winamp.com 2. there was an uptodate antivirus on it 3. it was foramted the night b4 b/c it is (was) a server comp witch i cahge the content on it feruicky by foramting and starting all over. so fresh install 4. three was almost no other apps other then comp with windows. 5. i just had run a skan disk and it came out 100% ok 6. i just truned the thing on, instaled winamp and the winamp server stuff for what i am doing, none had virus all for offical sorces. 7. i rebot just affter that and nothing. unless a magick force came over and randoly corpted things it had to be winamp while it was installing. i reforamted the comp and load the back up disk and put winamp back on b/c i whonted to know if it whould happen agen and it did not screw it up this time. alought it has crashed alot and the server app is not working at all (when a users discontes the num of users gose up inted of down, ROFL) well at least this tells us that if u fail out of uni for CS u can allways work at winamp, hell they will probly let u progame it in turing (if it is not all ready!)

in turing... common that was a low blow see... it works.. what OS is this system (server)>? what OS is on ur alienware labtop .... what kind of server comp is this ??? IBM...ACER... etc.. ..... maybe the reason why ur partions scrwed up is because they were done wrong or got messed up.. then when winamp used the HD it all came undone .. (((maybe the partion seemed ok and working... but was really about to fail....))) i dont know.. .... dan have u every really USED winamp 5 b4??? like used it for a month or two...??? or have all the comps uve been on been bad luck ? second.. what winamp server program are u using??? maybe thats whats been messing it up... some plugins for winamp muck them up cuz they were designed for a different version of winamp... notice most plugins were made by simple programmers like us... they use this plugin builder software dealy thing off winamp . com if so... try a different server program... or ... try winamp without it altogether..

the plugin was good and for the right winamp, also i have tryed it with out it as well. there was nothing wrong with any of the comps, it is jsut that winamp is not portibale at all. only seems to run on the most avg comps and even then it still crashs like nuts.

i tryed it on 4 comps: aline: xp server 1: 98 server 2: xp server 3: 95 all have falied if diffrent hurable ways.

ur one unlucky sonava BIATCH then... i though u mite be running linux or some odd sh1t.. ok.... thats its.... DAN I DOOMED TO A LIFE OF UNLUCKYNESS.... due to his unability to install and use winamp 5... **WAIT!!!! .... try using the Classic skin instead of the Modern one cuz that one is WAY more stable they said that on winamp.com i use it cuz my comp lags like a whore when is on modern DAM SLOW COMP!!! also... try winamp 2.95 its much more stable... ^^^ and fasta... i have both.. winamp 2 for if i playing music while in SC or w/e .... winamp 5 so i can have global hotkeys and nice visuals...

Dude, winamp 2 and 5 use the same plugins. You could be running winamp 2 with some shortcutter plugin and still have resources left to do something else (that's how useless winamp5 is).

unless u hack ur winamp 2 version ***i downloaded a winamp 2 version that had all the abilities of winamp ...but...... winamp 2 cant BUrn or RIP cds.... winamp 5 CAN!.... also the modern skinm and winamp TV.. winamp 2 can do internet radio..!!
