My robotics team have made a submition to Guiness about seting a new world record , It will be done in August this summer , if sucessful there will be an annual event to try and beak it. I dont want to give deatails but il tell you a little about it ( i dont want anyone beating me to doing it , so the main topic is secret ) We will be doing something withing the cn tower , somthing to do with hte stairs Thats all i cna say for now , when i get our submission back il post the whole concept of what were doing , We will set a time record and a new record . Just thought iid let y know

I would like to petition against the existence of this thread. This is needless spam and not recognized as valid General Discussion OR Spam because (using shorthair's definition) it does not concern computers or computer science in general. It concerns a robot that goes up stairs, and whether or not it has a computer on board, that computer is not an internet and user friencly capable computer and therefore together with this topic, does not fit the criteria of being General Discussion or Spam.

i help you get stated in bl itz , ispam with you ,i become your friend , and you do this to me your , a real good guy jonos BUT YOUR WRONG IS COMPUTER SCIENCE. Luckily right after i posted , iwas given full clearence to set a determined date for the record ,so i can now release details I will be the first person to geta robot to climb the cn tower , my rules are that it must touch every stair and must be artifically controled ( pre programmed) no human contact during the record ,it will be a first and a timed record , eachyear ( f sucessful ) we will have a contest and the winner takes claim to be the best Have a good evning Compsci , my best regards , oh and jonos -10 bits for spamming , and disrespecting the community ,no need for that A word of advice , dont jump to conclusions JOnos , assumptions just make yourself look like an ass

Well if al lgoes right , il represent Compsci , as all my team member have joined compsci , but thats up to my team ,right now we represent out school , We will adertise compsci ,as where we got our idea from and where we learned some stuff , and get some hype going for it , This yar were solo, but we hope that by doing it , we will get a sponsership , il invite you all out on the day we do it , so we cna meet each other , it would be an awsome day , finaly see who im flaming all year long

yeah i go all the time to toronto , havent been to the CN for a while , i will hopefully be able to get some of ya in for free in the Summer i have a team of 5 cost us 300 to build ( no sponser 0 , we hope to get one after we attempt the record and have that company sponser the yearly challenge , the beuty is that the record can lays be baten cause its time based , just has to touh every stair , and has to be pre programmed , We have lots of time to make Compsci arrangements , il Start updating weekly on our progress with photos and design specs , so you guys can see the latest , next step is to getth ereplica stairs built once we have schmatics

Thanks for the help in Blitz and all, it's just that you didn't really want to spam with me, you wanted to control my spam. I created a thread as a joke asking who changed my avatar and then it got way out of control, starting with your post. In your telling me to stop spamming, you forgot to mention all the other 200 other threads that were "needless" spam. I guess spam is up to interpretation, but I don't think you should have gone so far as telling me what spam I could spam the spam area with. You can take all my bits if you want, I'm trying to be more socialist while on these boards, everyone must be equal, and my rather upper-middle-class amount of bits is not inline with my recent ideas of because more socialist in my thoughts and actions.

we talked about a robotics forum before i beleve , but we all know that this is a computer scienece , board fro programming help , there are only a select few that are into robotics , and those people probably wont be bothered in postig in a robitscs place , i would be and im sure there are a few others, There are a huge amount of robotics boards , to get help and to post on , we a programming site , it might work out it might not , msy get us a few more one time posters

OMG! I have the perfect idea! Since the_short1 and shorthair suggested this idea about robotics (or brought it up again), we ..... SHOULD LET THEM BE THE MODS! Yeah! I mean, who cares if shorthair is already the mod of the super-important Other Basics forum, because we all know he's modest and can accept the responsibility Also, since this site caters to every posters need to either become a mod, a developer, or have some sort of custom title, we can just give them something cool like "Robotics Guy" or something! Doesn't that sound fair for everyone! DOESN'T IT!!!!!

oh yeah, with enough investment, one could lunch a jet up the stairs, but that's not the point. The point is to actually get out and attempt something interesting. Besides, you can always limit the event to an age group. (thats why after I'll build my winning submission while in univercity, my brother will be representing the entry as a highschool student )

who needs a wifi port.... its called a cellphone!!! ive seen it done.. and it works fairly good.... **someoen had a wireless labtop and they had internet going thru the phone... it was wicked... have an link on main page that opened up a webpage with WMP window in it that would KICK...!!!! have a camera on the robot.. and hook that to a cellphone.. and host THAT live.. THAT WOULD ROCK!!!!

'cept for cellphone internet, provider charges per byte or something insane like that Besides, you'd want to see the many angles of us fooling around with controls at the base of the tower, so I still think that hacking a wifi access would be the coolest

i though u cant mess with controls afta the robot is set...... yea.... well... go havka a WIFI port... it would be crazy cool..... until the person realizes... 'why is my wireless light on my router blinking even though im not on the net.... yea... i turned disabled the wirelessness of my router since i not using it... that way there no one can hack it also it mite make it faster internet.... funny thing... i got 3x faster internet on my PC then my families PC... its INSANE... even though we on same router.... ....... .. . . . although i have a diff net card.. they are basically the same ...

someone can always do it faster , thats totally not the point , teh honda robot ( like a real person ) could do the stairs in abuot 2 hours , but dude were just a group of kids with 500 dollars and a dream , it might take about 2 days t oget up hte stairs , i dont care , i will still be the first person to do it , and as written before im very willing ( if we set the record ) to have an annual sponsered competition to try and break hte record
