you didnt post hte high cscores file with it

Post subject:

high scores aren't working...

hmmm... (at least on difficulty 5) if you just hold your mouse button down over the bottom left corner you get clips like mad..

also the first screen goes away pretty fast. you should error proof it (like you can't enter 'q' for the difficulty)

I like the idea though!
good start!

Post subject:

well the men never disappear and the game never ends. if thats it my high score is like 10,000

Author:  shorthair [ Tue Jan 27, 2004 6:08 pm ]
Post subject:

I dunno whats goin on at your end , but hte game works fine for me , it may be your comp speed , ( What difficulyty level did you try it at )

Author:  Cervantes [ Tue Jan 27, 2004 6:09 pm ]
Post subject:

the men don't dissappear shorthair.. they just move around...

multiple levels would be cool.. also objectives like hitting the guys legs 5 times in a minute and his arms 5 times in 30 seconds or whatever..

Post subject:

what grade level?

Author:  beamer [ Tue Jan 27, 2004 7:36 pm ]
Post subject:

what do you mean?If you mean what I think then 11.

Author:  Cervantes [ Tue Jan 27, 2004 7:39 pm ]
Post subject:

My best guess is that he means what grade are you in... so yeah 11 would do it

Author:  McKenzie [ Tue Jan 27, 2004 10:33 pm ]
Post subject:

Well it matters a lot. As a grade 10 project thats great. As a grade 11, well ... more average

Author:  AsianSensation [ Wed Jan 28, 2004 12:55 pm ]
Post subject:

for gr. 11, it's avg. It's a good start though, do some more interface, error checking, stuff like that, and you have a pretty good game. I liked the fact that you drew the person yourself, instead of getting a picture out of somewhere. That shows that at least you spend some time on it.

1 moooooore thing (as uncle would say), use Mouse.ButtonWait, it will take away the problem of the user holding the mouse button down and just pressing r all the time.

Author:  beamer [ Wed Jan 28, 2004 2:26 pm ]
Post subject:

Well Mckenzie, they don't have a comp prog course for grade 10, just grade 11 and 12

Author:  shorthair [ Wed Jan 28, 2004 4:13 pm ]
Post subject:

No way , i thought all schools had to have it , i mean its bad enough that grade 10 is not a prerequisit to grade 11 , but to not have it at all is absurd

Author:  Cervantes [ Wed Jan 28, 2004 4:28 pm ]
Post subject:

at my school gr 10 is a prerequisit for gr 11... also there is a gr 10 course (naturally)... you can even take it as a double credit course combined with gr 9 computers (learning crap like word and excel). except we really skip through that whole course in about 2 weeks

Cheers Smile

Post subject:

I'd have to rate it as Good then. ( Embarassed I think I already voted AVG)

Post subject:  my crappy canadian school...

well at my school, you gotta take a business course in grd 9 (exel, word, crap like that) and in grd 10, you can take a comp engineering course where you learn about the components of simple things and you get to make a thing that makes an LED flash if you connect it to a battery (ooooh, aaaah)

Author:  Maverick [ Thu Jan 29, 2004 4:16 pm ]
Post subject:

Don't you program in grade 10 engineering at your school? We use visual basic, and actually making led's is quite fun.

Author:  beamer [ Thu Jan 29, 2004 5:23 pm ]
Post subject:

nope. we just deal with the parts of the comp and learning to solder components onto a chip so that things work (the LED). It's pretty crappy.

Author:  shorthair [ Thu Jan 29, 2004 5:25 pm ]
Post subject:

I skipped grade 10 , and strted at grade 11 , went right into logic gates ,boolean algebra and numbersstems , being able to write in octal is cool

Author:  Maverick [ Thu Jan 29, 2004 6:48 pm ]
Post subject:

Man thats a chitty comp engineering class. We get to make progs in vb and integrate them with LED's so u can play games and sutff with the led.

Post subject:

Well AsianSensation, I can't seem to get the mouse.buttonwait thing to work becuase i was using mousewhere before and it's button command is differant from the buttonwait. I don't understand it enought to change everything to work for it.

Post subject:

wow looks like my school has the best compsci classes! Very HappyVery HappyVery Happy

after one gr 9 / gr 10 course (that almost everyone took in gr 9, including me), we did word and excel, tons of turing, AND a month of VB Very Happy

Post subject:

For the buttonwait without the buttonwait (I'm not a big fan of buttonwait)

proc up
     var x,y,b:int
          exit when b=0
     end loop
end up

just forces them to play fair

Author:  Cervantes [ Fri Jan 30, 2004 7:28 pm ]
Post subject:

that would definately help.... biggest problem with this program is the no delay shooting Confused

Author:  josh [ Sat Feb 14, 2004 6:23 pm ]
Post subject:

The game is pretty neet but I wish that you would be able to see where you hit the guy, and maybe some sound effects. Also if u could make the rules screen stay up longer

(I was shooting and did not even realize I needed to reload) maybe put a sound effect for this

othern then that it was a fun game.

Author:  the_short1 [ Sun Mar 07, 2004 2:23 pm ]
Post subject:

not too bad,.... how long did it take u>???

i got a highscore of 998..... i think it would be cooler if it would shoot you after 5 seconds if you didnlt kill it....

is it ok if i steal this idea and make one of my own.. i wont take your code or anything... just the shooting galery type idea...

good game. i really liked it

Author:  beamer [ Tue Mar 09, 2004 7:43 pm ]
Post subject:  how long?

i dunno, i started early at lunchtimes about a month before we got the project. Probly bout a month to get it working, 2 weeks to get more stuff and another 2 weeks to get the bugs out. So bout 2 months.

Post subject:

hey beamer... i started makeing my version of it... right know im just in idea stages... but i think i might have issues later on... i already submited it to submissions just for kicks,.,.i took a pic of HALO and croped out backround they i used whatdotcolor to test if you hit... also it draws a oval where you hit... maybe get a sound effect for urs and draw a red oval where u hit.. that would be cool..

Author:  white_dragon [ Wed Apr 14, 2004 4:15 pm ]
Post subject:

anyting with halo is awesome!!!!!!!!! lol

put little grunts runnin round da screen! tat would be funny

Author:  valor [ Mon Apr 19, 2004 7:54 pm ]
Post subject:

hmm that game was alright, could use some work though, if you just hold down the mouse button and the reload button at the same time your points go up like mad. and yes halo is the greatest game ever made Very Happy

not bad. could use some more work
-try have the person die after he is first hit.
-have him move away faster.
-make the head shot harder then a body shot since it gives more points.
-show bullet fire.
-and have a cool pointer follow your mouse like a targeter
