the only time i have a problem with a trojan is when it actually erases my files or obstruct me when i work or something like that... i couldnt care less otherwise Wink The only reason i used it was that I was talking to its author (IOI competitor from Estonia)... although thats not a very good reason Wink 8) let me try again using that proggie Wink

well... i got looooootsa problems with trojans on my computer.... first of all they get free bandwidths...some of them make popups...they can access my private files...phone numbers resumes,etc...it's not just deleting files man...

lol Laughing one of my friends wanted to plant some trojans/backdoors on computers of people from his grade, so he could steal their assignments Laughing

The guy can't program, but he finished his CS 11 with 90something average through cheating and stealing code from people (like come up, hit print and run away with the code). Twisted Evil

make sure you dont get cought... Cuz if you do... well they not going to through you in jail under young offenders act, but you will not be allowed within a sertain distance of a computer (not just internet - computer itself) for a year or two... and that would suck Evil or Very Mad

yeah, but when they DO get cought, hell is let loose Twisted Evil

One of the most resent I can recall is that some student found out that some company's anti-copy software can by by-passes if you hold down Shift while burning the CD Confused Now this is not really a hack - just a glitch that he documented and there was a lot of articles about company wanting to sue him for buggy software explotations they wrote themselves in the first place.

Also some 14year old kid from Quebec (I think) comes to mind... couple of years ago he hacked a bunch of major websites (MSN, Yahoo, etc) and had to stay away from computer for a while...

Though ofcourse you will not hear about hacks of pentagon, although I'm sure those occur. Government itself will cover that up, as it will make them look really bad if some teen hacks their national security Laughing

it wasn't about holding down shift while burning. you hold down shift when you insert the cd in order to bypass the autoplay so that you don't have to agree to any terms of their stupid licencse agreement.

ohh... more on hacking Laughing

M$ puts up a $250K tawards capturing BlasterWorm's programmer

not exactly hacking... but still requires skillz to come up with something like that.

Post subject:

grrr, dam M$ now theres going to be all these crapy anti-hackers out there trying to stop the "evil" virus wirtes. they will porbly just end up puting insent poleop in jail while the realy hackers get away. i mean if you know what you are doing and dont go tell every one what you did you whont get caugth.

as for the worad "hack" it did come for progaming, meaning wireting a progame for fun. calling some one a hacker did not allways mean they were doing somting igealge on a computer Rolling Eyes

hacker is technically a term given to a programmer that reverse engineers software and creates new one or extending the capabilities of existing ones after the process.

so to be a hacker is not a joke.

a cracker on the other hand is something that has it's roots in the old computer war games (yea no jkz). they used to send a virus or a trojan to one another getting access of the other's comp and doing crazy stuff with it. some game eh!?!

anyways the loozer are still there.. now they attack the innocent as well.

type of "hackers" I hate the most (and so does everybody else) are those script hackers. Basically some kids, average age of 14 who get their hands on some crack scripts and go around, crashing stuff Evil or Very Mad

Though the only people anyone else catches are those who document their hack findings for "educational purposes". Like couple of years ago, when a Russian programmer was on that computer conference in New York (I think) talking about how to bypass e-book's security, and by the end of his presentation, "proper authorities" were waiting for him to step down and take him away.

Or more resent ones - some (denmark was it? somewhere in europe) student bypasses DVD anti-copy system to backup his movies. And latest one, with "shift" key to bypass agreement statment.

The only "hackers" anyone ever catches are those who document their educational research and those damn kids who got nothing better to do then to execute random programs they download off the net.

well they are probly geting the passworad from some prooly made or poorly mode php code. b/c if the server is no on the localhost the phpcode has to have the pass for the mysql in it.

that or they are just dum asses who use like 2 char paswroads Razz

I still use the definition of hacker as a programmer/computer guru without formal training or one who creates new and exciting features through reverse engineering or open source, or their own code from scratch. My final definition of hacker is one who reports and exploits flaws in software, not malliciously, but one who finds exploits in software and reports them via the internet or to the manufacturer.
