Nice desktops guys! Here's my December desktop. This is the first background pic I made so any comments on it would be great.

Edit: The picture turns up slightly blurry because it's in jpg format.

Oh, wow that looks cool- is that YzDock or something?

It's a system dock, it comes with Alienware's new Xenomorphâ„¢ windows theme. If you like it you can download it here: http://www.alienware.com/intro_pages/invader.aspx

I liked the background better before I scrolled to the bottom-right corner and saw the anime girl there. Razz
Really, it looked pretty nice!

Well I just added that in to fill up that corner because it seems bare there when all my icons are on the left side. What could I put in it's place?

Nothing. Simple is good.

Yeah but I'm not a simple kind of person.

It's not as cold as it should be outside, so voila: winter

Surprisingly decent! But Cervantes, why are you always posting Windows screenshots?

Author:  Cervantes [ Fri Dec 15, 2006 10:01 pm ]
Post subject:

Because I'm using windows all the time now. I'm sorry guys, I've let you down.

I might try setting up linux during the break. I don't really have any need for windows. It's just more convenient at the moment.

Noobie Question: What is the open window most of you guys have on your desktop? they all look similar so i was wondering Smile

md had x-chat (irc client) and Gaim (multi protocol IM client) open, Mazer had a terminal open, and I had foobar (media player) open. None were the same.

I also had gkrellm2 running Wink

The dark was too much for me though, http://nxor.org/media/desktop20061216.png. Brighter, and with beryl because new nvidia drivers don't suck nearly as much.

Your new theme md is (I think) a little too bright.

Lesser people? Wow XD

It's a perfect ranking! Me (top), People I talk to almost all the time, people I talk to most days, people I talk to infrequently, then there is one for family and cs.ca people.

I do't see that it's too bright however... bright is good! Reminds me of the fact that soon winter will be over and I'll have heat again.

ahh ic i thought maybe it was a code program to make b ackgrounds Razz that woulda been cool cuz id wanna know where to get it to try it Razz. (dont say that i can use stuff like other programs, cuz i know [just thought it was a special program] thx cervantes Smile

heres my lame background

Author:  Silent Avenger [ Sun Dec 17, 2006 9:03 pm ]
Post subject:

It's not that lame but I think I know what's wrong with it. There's too much sky and not enough ground so there isn't a good balance. Do you by any chance have photoshop, gimp or fireworks? If you did you could make yourself a pretty nice background.

i have photoshop Smile

so u thinking i should cut half the top or something? Rolling Eyes Very Happy

Author:  Silent Avenger [ Sun Dec 17, 2006 10:50 pm ]
Post subject:

No you don't need to cut half the top just recreate the bottom.

o ok i think i understand. u mean make the city apear better and come out so its split focus kinda? and not have the sky the main focus? (draw the city more detailed?)

Yeah, it's still December.

http://www.cervantes.compsci.ca/images/screenshots/2007%20January.png

I'm running Xgl/Beryl, but a screenshot can't really show many of the effects. I suppose I could have shown off opacity/brightness/saturation of windows, and reflections for windows, but that's about it.

Got a new 20" widescreen LCD monitor, so that explains the resolution. Very Happy
