Remember last term when I said that I got a job working for National Defense? Well, I just trumped it.

How, you ask? Well, I just got a job working for Epson. Epson...in Japan.

That's right...from September to August, I will be living in Japan. I can hardly wait.

Hah, yeah, right. Biiru ka?

It's actually kinda cool...the legal drinking age in Japan is 20 so I'll get to have a(nother) "I can finally drink" party.

Maybe not daily, but I'll keep everyone up to date Wink

Might be a cause to create my own blog...hmm...

Well, first update:
I will be working from September 2005 - August 2006 in Matsumoto, Nagano, Japan for the Epson Avasys Corporation, working with web applets in Java. That's about what I know right now. I can't wait. I might have to learn Japanese too.

Have fun Martin. Better start working on those lower-back muscles, they'll be put to some heavy use there.

Congratulations, Martin. Are you nervous? I'd be nervous if I were signed up for a job that seems daunting and in a foreign country that speaks a different language. Do they use English as a business language?

No.

I'm in way over my head here, but I like it that way.

Dude, that's what we have credit cards for. You know...electronic money. The stuff we're learning about in Econ. The stuff that doesn't really exist.

Anyway, yeah man, you can just wire me the money later.

Don't mean to de-rail your thread Martin, but... on the subject of Japan, why is (nearly) everyone insanely obsessed about going to that country? I personally ... don't really want to go there.

I'd personally go because of the fibre-optical internet and the technology. But I'm torn between that and Germany, german food is good.

;o; I wanna go to Germany. Don't really recall eating any authentic German food (nor Americanized/Bastardized-German food either, for that matter) ... ;o Now I'm getting hungry and I want dinner ;__;

Yeah, what with the former-'New Berlin' being right next door.
Do you really want to go to Germany after what happened in England? Where's safe, anymore?

Waterloo is a German town Laughing I'm serious though. University's crest is all Yellow/Red/Black, and when they have the extended version of the flags up (two piece, on both sides of poles... if you've seen those) they have a rotated germany flag in there. Ahh... the subliminaty (sp?)

Bren -- no need to go to Germany. My hair will get sunbleached and I already have blue eyes. I'll just have to work on my german accent and you'll have your own (pseudo)German guy right here in Waterloo... umm... which is like pointless, since this is a German town (read above) anyways.

*sigh*

Yeah, I'm not sure why so many people want to go there.

I mean, I have no doubt that I'll have fun, but given a choice between New York and Tokyo, I'd pick New York any day. The whole Japanese xenophobia thing that they have going on concerns me somewhat (party because getting a visa is proving to be very time consuming). That and their economy is insanely slow. China being right next door kinda makes me uneasy as well. Electronics are cool though (I want a Motorola RAZR 3....drool...).

I'll find out first hand how much fun it'll be though (and I have no doubt it'll be fun).
