I found the sculpture quite cool, un-traditional, and really cute. I am wondering why someone would remove such a abstract creation! It doesn’t spoil anyone’s emotions / religious beliefs and it looks different from the crowd too. If given a chance, I would reinstall this sculpture.

Yes, but as I've said -- that's because we have a guard post set up whenever the giant pink tie is in the public. I think it was destroyed (possibly multiple times) in the past.

Folks, this reminds me of my days as an Electrical Engineering undergraduate student in the University of Malawi. Some crazy students uprooted a public phone booth and took it away. I am shocked to learn that such habits are also practiced in the Western world.

@Adam — you are right, CSers are taking a lot of abuse. Each year, during the frosh week, the Math faculty puts together a 24/7 guard post (I am not making this up), to protect the giant pink tie (faculty symbol) from various attacks. The other symbol — a “natural log” has been stolen a while ago. And now this…

@James — heh, I see what you’ve done there. Though Engineers get a few shiny iMacs as well. They are located in the Environmental building though
